Lyrics and Inspirations

From the CD: Sometimes In The Wind

BlueBoyBlue

Well I got him in the Springtime
We’d go fishin’ in the rain
Both of us needed a good friend
I took to him he did the same

He had short hair, one sock and blue eyes
There isn’t much he wouldn’t chase
Every mornin’ before the sunrise
He’d hit the bed and kiss my face

Sometimes I stand out in the back yard
Starin’ out beyond the fence
It doesn’t matter where you are
Stealin’ a best friend don’t make sense

She said she’d love me for a lifetime
That she’d always be true
That was more than just a white lie
Now who’s the dog among the two

BlueBoyBlue
Can’t ya hear me callin’ you
BlueBoyBlue
Can’t believe she took you too

Last Teardrop

I moved here in the second grade and sat behnd her there
She was just a little thing with curly auburn hair
I fell in love with Molly that very first time
And I told my friend Scooter I was goin’ to make her mine

The next ten years got harder there were desperation moves
When she ran off to BigTown I thought I was goin’ too
One day in the paper an announcement set a date
I realized my love for Molly Brown would have to wait

I kissed her on the cheek and shook her husband’s hand
Then drove off to our favorite spot in town
Beneath that lovin’ tree I laid a wedding band
And gave a last teardrop to Molly Brown

Molly left the BigTown after twenty years of pain
Her Momma wrote to tell me she was comin’ on a train
I went back through the years remeberin’ eighteen
Wonderin’ if she ever knew just what she meant to me

I kissed her on the cheek and took her momma’s hand
We stood there as they laid her in the ground
Her best friend handed me a tarnished wedding band
And gave a last teardrop to Molly Brown

I go back through the old times some I still don’t understand
While drivin’ to our favorite spot in town
Beneath that lovin’ tree I hold that wedding band
And give a last teardrop to Molly Brown

I think about her often when the springtime comes around
And give a last teardrop to Molly Brown
